TRAVEL INFORMATION: HOW TO REACH TURIN

By plane: Turin is served by the International Airport of Torino-Caselle, which is about 16 km north to the city center. If you decide to reach Turin by plane, you can then move to the city center in the following ways:

SADEM airport shuttle: a bus shuttle leaves the airport about every 15 minutes every weekday and about every 30 minutes during the weekends (see the timetable). The bus stop is right outside the arrival terminal, on the right, and it stops at the two main stations of the city center, Torino Porta Susa and Torino Porta Nuova. Tickets are available both in the airport (cost:6.5 €) and on board (cost: 7.5 €). The run last about 45 minutes.

Train: a train service leads from the airport to the station Dora GTT. The train station at the airport is in front of the arrival terminal. The run lasts about 19 minutes and, once at the station Dora GTT, the service Dora Express allows to reach the more central station of Torino Porta Susa.

Taxi: several cabs are always waiting outside the arrival terminal and are available to reach the city center.

By train: the city is well-connected by a large railway network. The two main stations are Torino Porta Nuova and Torino Porta Susa.

ACCOMODATIONS

Find accomodation in Turin is very easy, as a huge variety of structures are ready to receive a significant number of tourists all over the year. The list below names a few hotels that can be considered for you stay.

Hotel and Residence Torino Centro ***: close to the station of Torino Porta Susa and the central historical center of the city, it is about 10-15 minutes walk from the Politecnico. Address: Corso Inghilterra, 33.

Best Quality Hotel Politecnico ***: it is right behind the Politecnico, about 5 minutes walk. Address:  Corso Peschiera, 117Bis.

Hotel Bologna **: right in front of the main station of Torino Porta Nuova, it is in the center of the city, about 20 minutes walk from the Politecnico. Address: Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, 60.

Best Western Hotel Luxor ***: close to the station of Torino Porta Nuova, it is about 15 minutes walk from the Politecnico. Address: Corso Stati Uniti, 7.

Le Petit Hotel ***: located in the heart of the historical center, it is about 10 minutes walk both from the station of  Torino Porta Susa and from the one of Torino Porta Nuova, and about 25 minutes walk from the Politecnico. Address: Via San Francesco d'Assisi, 21.

RESTAURANTS/PUBS

As in all Italian cities, there is nothing easier to find than a great place where to have a perfect meal. To provide just a brief suggestion, check the list below.

Close to the Politecnico:

Mixto: restaurant just behind the main building of the Politecnico

Quattro Soldi: nice typical Italian diner about 5 minutes walk from the Politecnico

L'Ostu: a cosy taver about 5 minutes walk from the Politecnico where to eat both a quik sandwich or a full meal

A Casa Ponte: restaurant and pizzeria about 10 minutes walk from the Politecnico

Close to the center:

Porto di Savona: typical local reastaurant located in one of the main square of Turin, Piazza Vittorio, right in front of the river

Arcadia: Italian dishes and sushi served in an elegant environment, close to one of the main street of the city center, Via P

Spada Reale: elegant restaurants where to both local and Sicilians dishes, right behind Piazza Vittorio, close to the rive

Alla Lettera: restaurant and pizzeria in the awesome square Piazza Bodon

Talking about pubs, there are several of them all along the main street Corso Vittorio Emanuele II (the one in front of the station Torino Porta) that are open all night long.
